As part of this, under a government regulation titled Electric Ceiling Type Fans (Quality Control) Order, 2023, the Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS) prohibits manufacture, sale, trade or import and storage of unsealed items.
The Department of Promotion of Industry & Internal Trade (DPIIT) issued a notification on August 9 to promote indigenous industries and trade in the country. The new regulation will come into effect six months after the date of publication of the notification.
Penalty
Penalties at various stages have been imposed on those who violate the regulation issued by the government agency. Violators of the Bureau of Indian Standards Act can face a jail term of up to two years or a fine of at least Rs 2 lakh for a first offence. In case of second or repeat offence, the fine will be increased to a minimum of five lakhs. The maximum penalty can be up to ten times the value of the goods.
At the same time, the notification points out that certain leaves have also been granted to micro/small companies in the country so that the new regulation does not adversely affect them. Relaxation has been granted to Micro/Small Enterprises in terms of implementation of Quality Control Order (QCO). According to the notification, MSME category companies have been given a grace period of 12 months to ensure quality goods.
Along with quality assurance control (QCO) many other schemes have been launched by the government department to promote domestic industry and trade. Through this we will try to educate the consumers and manufacturers about the quality. Apart from this, product manufacturing instructions and quality testing labs will be set up. Through this, it is also aimed to create a quality industrial environment in the country.
