Spain will face the Davis Cup group stage in Valencia. The team coached by David Ferrer is included in Group B along with France, the Czech Republic and Australia. The Spanish team is made up of Carlos Alcaraz, Marcel Granollers, Pablo Carreño, Roberto Bautista and Pedro Martínez. This Friday, Spain will face France (16.00). The French team will be represented by Ugo Humbert, Arthur Fils, Arthur Rinderknech, Pierre-Hugues Herbert and Edouard Roger-Vasselin.
Last Wednesday, the Spaniards played the first round and won all three matches against the Czech Republic. Roberto Bautista was the one in charge of opening the scoring for the Spaniards. Bautista beat Jiri Lehecka (7-6(1) and 6-4, in 1h 48m). Then, Carlos Alcaraz beat Tomas Machac (6-7(3), 6-1 and his rival retired due to physical problems, after 1h 38m). To finish the day, the Murcian and Granollers polished the scoreboard with a comeback in the doubles (6-7(2), 6-3 and 7-6(2) against Adam Pavlasek and Jakub Mensik).
The group stage will be played until Sunday, September 15. The final phase will be played in Málaga at the Martín Carpena Pavilion from this Tuesday, November 19, until next Sunday, November 24, when the winner of the 2024 Davis Cup will be known.
