BRUSSELS, Oct. 9 (EUROPA PRESS) –
The European Commission announced this Monday that it “suspends all payments” related to development aid to Palestine following the attack launched this Saturday by the Islamic Resistance Movement (Hamas).
In a message on social networks, the Neighborhood Commissioner, Oliver Varhelyi, has announced that the bloc is freezing all planned payments immediately and is reviewing all ongoing projects. It thus follows in the footsteps of Austria, while Germany has reported that it is reviewing its cooperation commitments.
“All new budget proposals, including that for 2023, postponed until further notice and we will carry out a thorough evaluation of the entire portfolio,” said the Hungarian commissioner, regarding aid that has amounted to almost 700 million euros.
