Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal gets bail : Delhi Chief Minister and Aam Aadmi Party convenor Arvind Kejriwal has got a big relief. Delhi court has granted him bail in the liquor policy case. Kejriwal has been given regular bail in this case. According to the information that has come out so far, Delhi court has given the order to grant bail to Kejriwal on Thursday evening, but it will take time to complete the formalities related to bail. Therefore, Kejriwal will be able to come out of jail only on Friday. The judge gave this order after hearing the arguments of the prosecution and defense on the application filed by Kejriwal for regular bail. On Wednesday, the court had extended the judicial custody period of Kejriwal till July 3 in the same case.
The court rejected the ED’s request to stay the order
Earlier, ED requested the court to stay Arvind Kejriwal’s bail order for 48 hours so that he can challenge it in the higher court. But the court rejected this order of ED. It is clear from ED’s stand that even though Kejriwal has got bail from the trial court, the Enforcement Directorate (ED) will try its best to stay his bail order by challenging it in the higher court. Meanwhile, all the leaders of Aam Aadmi Party including Rajya Sabha MP Sanjay Singh and Delhi Minister Atishi have expressed happiness over the news of Kejriwal getting bail and called it a victory of truth.

Kejriwal was released on interim bail during the general elections
The ED arrested Arvind Kejriwal in March in connection with the Delhi liquor policy that has been cancelled. His arrest was made a few days after the Lok Sabha general elections were announced in the country. The Supreme Court had granted him interim bail to participate in the Aam Aadmi Party’s election campaign. After which he also campaigned. But according to the same order of the Supreme Court, he had to surrender in jail before the counting of votes and the election results were announced. The Aam Aadmi Party had made it a big issue during the Lok Sabha elections, accusing the ED and other agencies of the central government of deliberately targeting many opposition leaders including Kejriwal. However, the BJP claims that this case has nothing to do with politics and the action being taken by the central government agencies against all opposition leaders including Kejriwal is a part of the Modi government’s anti-corruption policy.
