- The Brazilian health team arrived at the stadium
- The match was to be played in Sao Paulo
Sao Paulo: The long awaited Brazil-Argentina World Cup qualifier has been canceled. The dramatic turn of events began when a Brazilian health team arrived at the stadium, accusing four Argentine players of not following Covid’s protocol. This was after all the preparations were made to start the match. It was announced that the match would be abandoned after a long dispute.
The Brazilian health team has confirmed that four players from the Premier League did not follow Covid protocol. Aston Villa players Emiliano Martinez and Emiliano Bundia and Tottenham Hotspur stars Christian Romero and Giovanni Lo Celso have been accused of violating Covid protocol.
It is reported that the Premier League clubs have decided not to release players for the World Cup qualifiers as they have to stay in the quarantine for ten days. The Brazilian health team had asked the Argentine players to go to the quarantine. But officials say they are not ready for this.
Before the match, all four players were on the field, and health workers arrived to inform them that they would not be allowed to take part in the match. FIFA will declare Brazil victorious if it is found that the Argentine players violated the Brazilian code of conduct. Further investigations are underway in this regard.
