Kolkata : The Calcutta High Court will deliver its verdict in the Birbhum arson case on Friday. A Public Interest Litigation (PIL) was filed seeking a probe by a central agency. The Bharatiya Janata Party has sought the resignation of Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee and demanded a probe by central agencies into the incident. BJP MP from Hooghly Locket Chatterjee has also claimed that around 20 people have been killed in the arson. He said that no one knows the actual number as no one is allowed to enter Birbhum.

Home Ministry has sought report
The Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) has sought a detailed report from the West Bengal government on the incident of arson. A nine-member delegation of BJP MPs from West Bengal met Union Home Minister Amit Shah and sought his intervention and action against the criminals involved in the crime.

Mamata Banerjee’s advice to the Governor
Amid the ongoing controversy over the incident, Mamata Banerjee has asked West Bengal Governor Jagdeep Dhankhar to refrain from making inappropriate statements. Dhankhar, in a Twitter post, had said that the orgy of horrific violence and arson in Rampurhat, Birbhum indicates that the state is in the grip of a violent culture and anarchy.

Dhankhar said, “The violence in Rampurhat indicates a dangerous situation in West Bengal. The law and order situation in the state is deteriorating. Bengal is a laboratory of human rights violations. I want to cooperate with the government, provided there is a legal process.

What happened in Birbhum’s Rampurhal
Following the murder of Trinamool Congress leader Bhadu Sheikh in West Bengal’s Rampurhat area of ​​Birbhum, a mob torched houses on Tuesday. Eight people were burnt to death in this incident. West Bengal Director General of Police (DGP) Manoj Malviya said that 11 people have been arrested in this case so far. A special investigation team has been constituted to probe the matter.
