Earlier while addressing the program Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar said, “The Prime Minister is doing every work for the country and is also helping Bihar completely. Today, Tribal Pride Day has been organized in Jamui on the birthday of Lord Birsa Munda… Lord Birsa Munda was the hero of the tribal society who fought for the people of the tribal society… At the time of his birth, Bengal, Bihar, Odisha were all one state. Were… Jharkhand became a separate state in the year 2000. At that time, the then Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee decided to create the state of Jharkhand… Lord Birsa Munda had a big contribution in the independence of the country and the upliftment of the tribal society…”
Its PM Modi addressed the public meeting and said, “Today is a very holy day. Today is Kartik Purnima, Dev Diwali and today is also the 555th Prakash Parv of Guru Nanak Dev Ji. I congratulate all the countrymen on these festivals. Today is a historic day for every countryman for another reason. Today is the birth anniversary of Lord Birsa Munda. It is National Tribal Pride Day. I congratulate all the countrymen and especially my tribal brothers and sisters on Tribal Pride Day.”
Prime Minister Narendra Modi said, “Today, when we are starting the Tribal Pride Year, it is very important to understand why this event was needed? This is an honest attempt to correct a huge injustice in history. After independence, the contribution of the tribal community was not given the place in history that my tribal community deserved. Tribal society is the one who made Prince Ram into Lord Ram. The tribal society is the one that led the fight for hundreds of years to protect India’s culture and independence. But in the decades after independence, attempts were made to erase this precious contribution of tribal history. There was selfish politics behind this also. The politics is that only one party should be given credit for India’s independence. But if only one party and one family brought independence, then why was Lord Birsa Munda’s Ulgulan movement organized? What was Santhal Revolution? What was the Coal Revolution?…”
PM Modi said, “Just a few days ago, we have launched a special scheme for the development of more than 60,000 tribal villages in the country. Dharti Aaba Tribal Village Utkarsh Campaign. Under this, about Rs 80,000 crore will be invested in tribal villages. Its objective is to provide necessary facilities to the tribal society as well as to create training and employment opportunities for the youth. Under this scheme, tribal marketing centers will be set up at various places. People will be given help and training to make ‘home stay’. This will boost tourism in tribal areas and the concept of eco-tourism created today will be possible in our forests and among tribal families and then migration will stop and tourism will increase.”
