Voting in 71 assembly constituencies of 16 districts in the first phase of Bihar assembly elections was completed peacefully on Wednesday. During this time, 53.54 percent (estimated) voting was done. An official of the State Election Commission said that the first phase of voting was completed peacefully. No major untoward incident has been reported so far.

In the first phase, votes were cast in 71 assembly constituencies in 16 districts of the state. According to the State Election Commission, 31,371 polling stations were set up for 2.14 crore voters in the first phase. In the first phase, 1066 candidates including 114 women are in the fray.
Special preparation for Corona
According to the commission, initially EVM malfunction was reported in many polling stations, but later it was rectified. For the first phase of polling, paramilitary forces were deployed at all polling stations and special preparations were made for Corona.
In the first phase elections, 27 candidates are in the fray for the Gaya Town Assembly seat, while the lowest five candidates are in the fray in Katoriya Assembly constituency of Banka district.
Voting on 36 seats till 6 pm
Due to security, polling work was done till 3 pm in some areas and till 4 pm in some areas, while polling work was done till 6 pm in 36 seats.
In the first phase, international shooter Shreyasi Singh from Jamui is contesting on a BJP ticket. Apart from this, Prem Kumar of BJP from Gaya Town, former Chief Minister of Bihar Jitan Ram Manjhi from Imamganj is in the fray and RJD’s Uday Narayan Chaudhary is giving it a contest. Apart from this, ministers Krishnanandan Prasad Verma, Jai Kumar Singh, Santosh Nirala, Ramnarayan Mandal, Vijay Kumar Sinha, Brijkishore Bind are also in the fray.
How many candidates for which party
In the first phase elections, 29 candidates of Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) from NDA, 35 from Janata Dal United, six from Hindustani Awam Morcha (Hum) and one candidate from Vikas Insaan Party are in the fray, while Rashtriya Janata Dal in Mahagathbandhan 42 candidates of RJD, 21 of Congress and eight candidates of CPI (Male) are in the election season.
Of these 71 seats, RJD has 25 seats in its possession, while JDU has 23 seats in its possession. Apart from this, BJP has 13 seats, Congress has eight, Hindustani Awam Morcha and CPI Male have one seat each.
Elections are to be held in three phases for the 243 assembly seats in Bihar. Polling will be held for 94 seats on November 3 for the second phase and 78 seats on November 7 for the third phase. At the same time, the votes will be counted on 10 November.
