Best Selling SUVs for May 2024: The craze for SUV segment vehicles in the Indian car market does not seem to stop soon. Customers are liking high-riding crossovers with long frames and great road presence. As a result, the rest of the segments are suffering the loss of market share. Last month, except for some popular hatchbacks, most of the best-selling cars in the Indian market were SUV vehicles. You can see the list of top 10 best-selling SUVs in May here.
Mahindra Bolero
Mahindra Bolero is at the bottom of this list of best-selling SUVs in May. Last month, Mahindra sold 8,026 Bolero cars. Whereas in May 2023, this figure of Bolero car sales was 8,170 units. On an annual basis, there has been a decline of 2 percent in Bolero sales this year.
Hyundai Venue
Hyundai Venue is at number nine in this list. In May, the car manufacturer sold 9,327 Venue cars. Whereas in the same month last year, the company sold 10,213 cars. On an annual basis, Venue sales have declined by 9 percent.
Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara
Grand Vitara is at number eight in this list of best-selling SUVs. Maruti Suzuki sold 9,736 Grand Vitaras in May 2024. Whereas 8,877 vehicles were sold in the same month last year. On an annual basis, the sales of Grand Vitara have increased by 10 percent this year.
Mahindra XUV 3XO
The recently launched Mahindra XUV 3XO car is at number seven in terms of sales in the Indian market. In May this year, the Indian car manufacturer sold 10,000 new Mahindra XUV 3OO cars. Whereas in the same month last year, 5,125 cars were sold. The new avatar of Mahindra XUV 3OO is seeing an increase in market share. According to monthly sales data, sales of XUV 3XO have increased by 95 percent on an annual basis.
Tata Nexon
Tata Nexon is at number six in this list. During May 2024, 11,457 Nexon cars were sold in the Indian market. Whereas in the same month last year, the company sold 14,423 Nexon cars. Nexon sales have declined by 21 percent on an annual basis.
Maruti Fronx
In terms of sales, Ford is at number five. Last month, Maruti sold 12,681 Ford cars. Whereas in the same month last year, 9,863 Fords were sold. Its sales have increased by 29 percent on an annual basis.
Mahindra Scorpio
Mahindra Scorpio is at number four in this list. Last month, Mahindra sold 13,717 Scorpio cars. Whereas in May 2023, 9,318 cars were sold. Mahindra Scorpio sales have increased by 47 percent on an annual basis.
Maruti Brezza
Maruti Brezza remains a safe option for buyers. Last month, 14,186 units of this sub-compact SUV were sold. Its sales figure in May 2023 was 13,398 units. Brezza sales have increased by 6% on an annual basis. The price of this third-selling SUV in May starts at Rs 8.34 lakh. The top variant of Brezza can be purchased for Rs 14.14 lakh (ex-showroom).
Hyundai Creta
Creta is Hyundai’s best-selling car in India. The carmaker sold 14,662 Creta cars in May this year. 14,449 cars were sold in the same month last year. Creta sales have increased by 1% on a monthly basis. Creta sales have mostly been strong and stable in the last few years.
The mid-size SUV received two major upgrades this year – a mid-cycle facelift and a sportier N-Line version. This is also helping Hyundai increase its market share. It was the second best-selling SUV in May this year.
Tata Punch
Tata Punch is at the top of this list. Maruti Swift may have become the best-selling car in the Indian market. But Tata Punch is number 1 among the vehicles in the SUV segment. Last month, Tata Motors sold 18,949 Punch cars while in May 2023, the Indian carmaker sold 11,124 Punch cars. Its sales have increased by 70% on an annual basis.
The Punch is one of the most affordable SUVs in the Indian market today, with prices starting at Rs 6.13 lakh. Its top variant can be purchased for Rs 10.20 lakh (ex-showroom). Apart from being competitively priced, the Punch has a 5-star safety rating. It is one of the safest cars in India, making it an attractive option for small car buyers.
