Thai players think the team is unlucky
In the second leg of the final, Thailand lost 2-3 to the Vietnamese team. In the 8th minute, Tuan Hai delicately lobbed the ball, opening the score. Although the “War Elephants” then quickly imposed an offensive stance, scoring two goals in a row thanks to Benjamin Davies and Supachok Saracha, their resilient efforts helped the Vietnamese team have an emotional comeback.
At the end of 2 rounds, the Thai team suffered a 3-5 defeat, thereby watching the Vietnamese team crowned the AFF Cup 2024 champion right at Rajamangala Stadium. After the match, Benjamin Davies – the player who helped Thailand equalize 1-1 with a beautiful curling goal in the second leg of the final – shared: “I am satisfied with my own physical recovery. At the same time, I am very happy to be able to return to play for the Thai team. However, today Thailand was not lucky.”
“Before entering today’s match, Thai players were under a lot of pressure. Everyone tried their best but victory did not belong to Thailand. I don’t know what we did wrong. Thailand must review the match and analyze it in detail to make corrections,” Benjamin Davies added.
Failing in the AFF Cup 2024 final, Thailand missed the opportunity to become the first team to win this tournament three times in a row. Therefore, Benjamin Davies affirmed that the Thai team will quickly return to win the championship in the next AFF Cup.
“Like I said, the Thai players tried their best. However, we must continue to be strong and fight. Next time, we will bring the championship to Thai fans,” Benjamin Davies emphasized.
