Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas, Jordanian King Abdullah II bin Al Hussein and Egyptian President Abdel Fattah al-Sissi attended the tripartite summit on Thursday in the Egyptian capital, Cairo.
The official Palestinian news agency Wafa declared that the holding of the Summit is part of “the continuation of consultations and intensive coordination on various issues of common interest, and of the follow-up of the Palestinian Cause”.
On Tuesday, the news agency said the summit aims to “urge the US Administration to keep its promises on the issue of the two-state solution, through a series of practical measures to end racist colonial policy, and to work for the opening of a new political path that leads to the end of the occupation and the establishment of an independent Palestinian state as well as to guarantee the return of refugees to their country “.
Since April 2014, negotiations between the Israeli and Palestinian parties have been suspended, due to Tel Aviv’s refusal to end these colonial operations, to release the former detainees as well as to reject the two-state solution.
