Bank Holidays in May 2024:The month of May will start from Wednesday next week. Banks are going to be closed for 14 days in May. Due to various reasons, banks will not function for 8 days in many parts of the country. Apart from these, banks will also remain closed on second-fourth Saturday and Sunday of the month due to weekend. The month will start with a holiday.
Maharashtra Day or May Day or Labor Day is falling on 1st May. Due to the special day falling on the first of May, banks will remain closed in Belapur, Bengaluru, Chennai, Guwahati, Hyderabad, Kochi, Kolkata, Mumbai, Nagpur, Panaji, Patna and Trivandrum. At the same time, due to voting for Lok Sabha elections, banks will remain closed in some states for 3 to 4 days in May.
Banks will remain closed for 3 days due to general elections
In April, voting took place for the first (19 April) and second phase (26 April) of the Lok Sabha elections. The functioning of banks in the areas where voting took place was affected on this day. Like April, in May too, voting is to be held in the third (May 7), fourth (May 13), fifth (May 20) and sixth (May 25) phases of the public elections. In such a situation, the functioning of banks in the areas where voting will take place on these days may be affected.
