There have been attacks on Hindus and Hindu temples in Bangladesh for some time. The Muslim majority population is targeting Hindu minorities. Although the head of Bangladesh’s interim government, Mohammed Yunus is in the core of peace in the country, there is no such thing as attacks on Hindus. Against this backdrop, the Hindu temple was once again attacked. The statue of Mahamaya Devi was destroyed by the thugs wearing masks at the Sri Sri Mahamaaya temple in Murihata area of Raipur in Laxmipur district. The incident took place during the Holi festival.

Vishwanath Saha, general secretary of the temple committee, said that the priests left the temple after the prayers were over on Thursday evening. When the priest returned to the temple the next day, the goddess statue was broken and shocked. Recognizing that the temple was attacked, the priest phoned the local Hindu community and informed him of the incident. The tragic incident was recorded on the CCTV camera set up there. A man wearing a mask entered the temple premises, destroyed the statue, and then fleeing the CCTV footage.

Vishwanath Saha, general secretary of the temple committee, said that the incident had lodged a complaint at the police station. The Laxmipur Pooja Utsav Parishad demanded that those responsible for the incident be identified within 24 hours. On receiving information, Raipur police station incharge Nizam Uddin Bhuyan staff visited the site of the incident. He said the case has been registered and an investigation has begun.
