With Kohli stepping down as captain, Royal Challengers Bangalore have forced South African superstar Faf du Plessis to bid for a new captain. But the assessment in the cricket world is that Bangalore will not be able to use the 37-year-old Naidu Plessis as a long-term captain. Indian senior off-spinner Ravichandran Ashwin is of the same opinion. Speaking on his YouTube channel last day, Ashwin opened his mind to this.

Ashwin says Faf is in the final stages of his IPL career. Ashwin said he has two or three years left in his career, adding that it was a good decision for Bangalore to have Faf as their captain and that he could bring some of Dhoni’s touch to the captaincy as he has played for Chennai Super Kings for a long time. Despite leading the FAF team this year, Ashwin has suggested that Bangalore could bring Virat Kohli back to the captaincy next season.
“Virat Kohli has been under a lot of pressure as a captain over the last few years, so I think this year will be a short break for him. They may appoint him as captain next year.” Ashwin said.
