In the case of alleged gang rape and death of a fifty-year-old woman who went to worship in the temple on January 3 evening in Badaun district, the SHO and the post in-charge of the concerned police station were suspended for not performing duties following the crime.
A case has been registered against two policemen for alleged negligence in the case of gang-rape and murder of a fifty-year-old woman in Badaun, Uttar Pradesh.
According to the report of the Indian Express, this FIR has been registered against the SHO and the post in-charge of the concerned police station for allegedly not performing their duties after the crime.
Both of these were suspended prior to these allegations.
Badaun (Rural) SP Siddharth Verma says, “During our investigation, we came to know that there was negligence on the part of policemen. There was a delay in filing an FIR. When there is a crime involving a woman, there is a need to fulfill certain duties. All the formalities in the case were delayed a lot.
The victim’s family says that there was a delay of about 18 hours in the registration of the FIR. According to the police, ‘Initially no written complaint was made by the victim’s family’.
The family alleges that the woman’s life could have been saved if the police acted on time.
Let us tell you that it is alleged that on the evening of January 3, the woman went to worship in the temple. It is alleged that during this time Mahant Satya Narayan, Chela Vedram and driver Jaspal present in the temple raped the woman and on the night of January 3, the accused escaped from the vehicle by throwing the woman in front of their house.
In the postmortem report, it was confirmed that the rod was inserted in the private part of the woman. Serious injury marks were also found on the woman’s body. In the postmortem report, the rib, leg and lungs were also confirmed to be damaged.
District Chief Medical Officer, Dr. Yashpal Singh said that the woman died due to shock and excessive bleeding.
After the gang rape, Raghavendra Pratap Singh, the police station chief, was suspended for being negligent in the murder and suppressing the incident.
After the arrest of two accused in this case, the absconding main accused Mahanta was arrested late night of January 7 .
