One arrest on 31st March…and an open poll
Mohammad Sharif Shah, a resident of Kokernag in South Kashmir, was arrested on March 31 from Gandhi Nagar area of Jammu with hawala money. When the police interrogated him, it came to know that Babu Singh, a resident of Kathua district, had assigned him the task of taking money from Srinagar.
Shrif Sartaj and Gurdev Singh also in custody
Police said three persons Siddhant Sharma and S Gurdev Singh of Kathua and Mohammad Shrif Sartaj of Jammu have also been taken into custody for questioning in the case. On April 2, Jammu and Kashmir Director General of Police (DGP) Dilbag Singh had said that the politician is absconding and will be traced soon.
The matter related to Pakistan and separatism
The DGP said, ‘Full picture will come out in this matter after interrogation. This matter is big. It is linked to Pakistan and separatism. Officials said Shah has also disclosed the names of his foreign aides, including Javed and Khatib from Pakistan-occupied Kashmir, Farooq Khan of Toronto (Canada).
Business was done by forming a group on social media
Police revealed that Babu Singh was also running a group on the social media platform which also had members from Pakistan and Saudi Arabia. There was discussion in this group and through this the hawala racket was spread. Money used to come to Kashmir from abroad and this money was used for secession in Kashmir.
