Ayushman Bharat Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana (AB PM-JAY) was recently expanded. The Union Cabinet led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi approved health coverage for all senior citizens aged 70 years and above, regardless of income, under the scheme. The aim of this government initiative is to provide free health insurance cover of Rs 5 lakh on a family basis to about 4.5 crore families comprising 6 crore senior citizens. With this approval, all senior citizens aged 70 years and above, irrespective of their social and economic status, became eligible to avail the benefits of the Ayushman Bharat scheme. Soon the process of making Ayushman cards for super senior people is to start. Meanwhile, the National Health Authority, the agency implementing Ayushman Bharat Scheme and Ayushman Bharat Digital Mission, has been suggested by Google’s research team to use a special kind of tool. These tools will help developers easily integrate into ABDM architecture. Google has given this information in one of its blogs.
According to Google’s blog post, using this tool, the data integration which used to take 6 months can be completed in 2 weeks. Additionally, in partnership with eka Care, ABHA ID cards will be available on Google Wallet next year. Through Google Wallet, more than 60 crore people will be able to easily access their ABHA ID card on the phone. With the help of ABHA Health ID, people will also be able to easily access their medical records. With the help of Health ID, people will be able to easily share their medical records with partner healthcare organizations across the country.
Ayushman Bharat Card on Google Wallet: How will it work?
While linking ABHA Health ID to Google Wallet, the user will have to verify his device. For this they will have to provide fingerprint, PIN or passcode. Users will be able to access the medical records used through these security codes.
ABDM: What is Ayushman Bharat Digital Mission?
The Government of India has launched Ayushman Bharat Digital Mission (ABDM) to promote digitalization of healthcare and create an open interoperable digital health ecosystem for the country. It aims to set common health data standards, develop core modules such as registry of health facilities, health care professionals, etc. required for interoperability; So that different digital health systems can interact with each other by enabling seamless sharing of data between different healthcare providers who may use different digital health systems. Processes in health care institutions will be digitized using various resources. Thus, ABDM seeks to bridge the gap between the multiple stakeholders who are part of the health care ecosystem.
What is ABHA Card or Health ID Card?
ABHA Health Card has a 14 digit unique identification number called ABHA ID. This digital health card contains vital health information allowing quick and easy access to treatment history and medical reports. Anyone can access affordable, high quality healthcare by using the ABHA Health ID Card to access a range of healthcare services including cashless treatment at hospitals across the country.
ABHA Card is managed under Ayushman Bharat Digital Mission (ABDM), a digital healthcare initiative of the National Health Authority (NHA).
