The body questions that the monitoring commission, which depends on the Federation and LaLiga, has the power to grant the visa and argues that professional athletes have the right “to a sporting career with all the guarantees and certainty.”
This Wednesday, the Higher Sports Council (CSD) approved the urgent precautionary measure requested by FC Barcelona and the players Dani Olmo and Pau Víctor. Both players, not on the list to face Athletic, will be able to play in the final of the Spanish Super Cup in Saudi Arabia if Barça beats Ernesto Valverde’s team. The CSD’s decision comes just over an hour before the competition starts in Jeddah with the first semi-final between Barcelona and Athletic. This measure, which is provisional in nature until the appeal presented by the club and the players is definitively resolved, suspends the Agreement of the Monitoring Commission of the RFEF-LaLiga Coordination Agreement, dated January 4, 2025, and the cancellation of the sports licenses of the aforementioned players. Likewise, it maintains the validity of such licenses until this appeal is definitively resolved.
