The more you impose tariffs on us, the more we will impose the same – Trump warns India
America’s newly elected President Donald Trump has warned of increasing taxes on India. Trump has threatened to impose reciprocal tax on India. Donald Trump said, America will impose the same tax on Indian goods as India will tax on American goods. He has talked about imposing reciprocal tariffs in response to the “high tariffs” imposed by India on imports of some American products.
Trump further said, if India charges us 100 percent duty, do we not charge them anything for it? You know, they send a bicycle and we send them a bicycle. They charge us Rs 100 and Rs 200. India charges very high fees. If they want to charge us, that’s fine, but we will charge them the same.
Earlier, the newly elected US President had also warned Canada that he would impose 25% tariffs from the first day of his administration if they fail to stop the flow of drugs and illegal immigrants into the US.
Donald Trump was speaking to the media when he said, “Reciprocally if they tax us, we will tax them the same. They tax us. We will tax them.” “They tax us, in almost all cases, they’re taxing us, and we’re not taxing them,” he said.
Trump further said, “India charges too much. Brazil charges too much. If they want to charge us then that’s fine, but we are also going to charge them the same. It seems as if his Commerce Secretary has approved Trump’s words. He says that whatever one does, the same will be done to him.
