Arvinder Singh Lovely back in BJP: Six days after resigning from the post of Delhi Congress President, Arvinder Singh Lovely joined the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Saturday. He joined BJP along with four other leaders in the presence of Union Minister Hardeep Singh Puri. The four other MLAs who joined the party include former Congress MLA Rajkumar Chauhan, Neeraj Basoya, Naseeb Singh and Delhi Youth Congress chief Amit Malik, who recently left the party. Arvinder Singh Lovely had resigned from the post of Delhi Congress President on April 28 in protest against the Aam Aadmi Party, an ally in the opposition alliance INDIA, and the selection of party candidates for the Lok Sabha elections.
After the announcement of resignation, Delhi government minister and AAP leader Saurabh Bhardwaj cited the alleged links between Lovely and BJP through the social media platform X. This is the second time that Lovely had resigned from the post of Delhi Congress President. Lovely’s resignation comes a day after more than a thousand members of the Sikh community, including officials of the Delhi Sikh Gurdwara Management Committee, joined the BJP. This was the second resignation of Arvinder Singh Lovely from the post of President of Delhi Congress Committee. Earlier, after the defeat in the assembly elections in 2015, he had resigned and joined BJP in 2017, but returned to Congress after 9 months. Now he has once again resigned from the post of President of Delhi Congress Committee and joined BJP after 6 days. Lovely has lost the 2020 assembly and 2019 Lok Sabha elections.
