The Saudi-led Arab Coalition announced on Saturday that it had intercepted and destroyed a trapped drone launched in the direction of Abha International Airport, in the southwest of the Kingdom.

This is what emerges from a brief statement made public by the Arab Coalition and relayed by the official Saudi Press Agency (SPA) on its Twitter account.

The Coalition did not mention the perpetrator, however, but generally blames the Houthis for it.

She also stressed that she was facing sources of threat to protect civilians and their property from hostile attacks, without mentioning possible losses.

Since 2015, Saudi Arabia has led a Coalition that conducts military operations in Yemen, in support of government forces, against the Iranian-backed Houthis, who have controlled several governorates, including the capital, Sana’a, since 2014.

The war, which has lasted for almost 7 years in Yemen, has claimed the lives of more than 233,000 people, in a country where 80% of the Yemeni population, or about 30 million people, depend on aid to survive. the world’s worst humanitarian crisis, according to the United Nations.
