Arab Coalition destroys two new trapped drones launched by Houthis at Saudi Arabia

AA / Yemen

The Arab Coalition announced on Wednesday the interception and destruction of two trapped drones launched by the Houthi group towards Saudi Arabia.

This was stated in a statement released by the Arab Coalition and reported by the official Saudi press agency, SPA.

“Saudi air defenses intercepted and destroyed two drones loaded with explosives launched by the Houthi militia towards the governorate of Khamis Mushait, in the southwest of the Kingdom,” the statement said.

And the same source added: “We are closely monitoring the activities of the Houthis, and we will take stringent measures to protect civilians.”

Moreover, the statement did not provide additional data, although there was no immediate comment from the Houthis on the matter.

On Tuesday, the Arab Coalition destroyed three Houthi drones launched at Khamis Mushait itself, while the latter did not follow up on the attack.

The Houthis usually fire ballistic missiles and drones against areas of Saudi Arabia. For its part, the Arab Coalition issues recurring statements announcing that it has foiled these attacks. However, some of these attacks resulted in civilian casualties.

Yemen has been the scene of a war for almost 7 years, which has left more than 233,000 people, and 80% of the population, or about 30 million, has become dependent on support and aid, in the worst case. humanitarian crisis in the world, according to the United Nations.

The conflict is all the more complex as it has regional repercussions. Since March 2015, a Coalition led by neighboring Saudi Arabia has been carrying out military operations in support of government forces, facing the Iranian-backed Houthis, who control several governorates, including the capital, Sanaa.
