As a result of air strikes on targets of the Ansarullah (Houthis) movement in Maarib province in central Yemen, 156 insurgents were killed per day. This was reported by the SPA news agency with reference to the command of the Arab coalition led by Saudi Arabia.
According to the coalition, 33 air strikes were inflicted on the attacking insurgents in the Al-Abdiyya area in Maarib, and 8 military vehicles were destroyed.
Saba, a Houthi-controlled news agency, reported that the Saudi Arabian and US Air Forces carried out 50 airstrikes in the Al-Abdiyah area per day. Residential buildings and infrastructure were seriously damaged.
On the eve of the Arab coalition reported on the destruction of over 400 insurgents in 4 days of fighting in the province of Maarib, where 118 airstrikes were inflicted.
An armed conflict has continued in Yemen since September 2014. The Ansarullah (Houthis) movement, backed by Iran, controls vast areas in the west of the country, including the capital Sana’u.
Government forces, with the support of the Arab coalition led by Saudi Arabia, have been fighting the Houthis since March 2015.
Parts of southern Yemen are controlled by separatists from the Southern Transitional Council. The UAE is actively supporting them.
