AQI crosses 400 in Delhi, fog alert also issued in two days
The country’s capital Delhi is facing the brunt of cold and air pollution these days. Cold winds and fog further dropped the temperature in the city on Thursday morning. Fog has also reduced visibility in Delhi NCR. In the morning, a blanket of dense fog had covered the entire NCR and the speed of the drivers was restricted.
Orange alert has been issued for the first time this season. At the same time, IMD has issued a yellow alert on Saturday. This morning i.e. on 19 December 2024, Delhi and Noida were covered with a blanket of fog. Visibility was not clear even till 7:06 in the morning. It is noteworthy that the weather may become worse from 21st onwards.

At the same time, the threat of pollution is also looming in the capital. According to the Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB), the AQI in the city was measured at 448 at 8 am. Talking about the main areas, on Thursday morning 403 in Anand Vihar, 572 in Dwarka, 409 in Ghazipur, 601 in Jangpura, 434 in Karol Bagh, 513 in Mundka, 609 in Narela, 463 in Punjabi Bagh, 592 in Rohini, Vasant Vihar. 493 AQI was recorded.
The air quality index (AQI) was recorded at 450 at 9 am, an increase of five points from 445 (severe) at 4 pm on Wednesday. Moderate fog was seen across the city. Due to calm winds and fog, Delhi’s air quality continued to deteriorate and the AQI went above 400 on Monday. After which Grape-4 restrictions were once again implemented in Delhi-NCR.
