Apple TV+ expands its offering of original series with “Lucky”, a new thriller starring Anya Taylor-Joy (“Chess Queen”, “The Menu”, “Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga”), who will also serve as a producer executive. The series is based on the New York Times bestselling novel of the same name and a Reese’s Book Club selection, written by Marissa Stapley. In “Lucky,” Taylor-Joy plays a young woman who has abandoned the life of crime she grew up in, but must now return to her dark side in one last attempt to escape her past.
“Reese’s Book Club was born with the goal of deepening connections: with stories, with storytellers, and with the community we are building,” said Reese Witherspoon. “It’s incredibly rewarding to be able to amplify these stories centered around women and their creators, see our community connect with them, and then see them come to life on screen. We couldn’t be more thrilled to partner with Apple TV+ and the incomparable Anya Taylor-Joy, plus to our brilliant creator Jonathan Tropper and his wonderful co-showrunner Cassie Pappas, for bringing this compelling series – based on Marissa Stapley’s fantastic novel – to audiences around the world.”
Produced by Apple Studios, “Lucky” will be written and produced by Jonathan Tropper (“Your Friends & Neighbors,” “See,” “The Adam Project”) and Cassie Pappas (“Silo,” “Griselda”). Reese Witherspoon and Lauren Neustadter will serve as executive producers for Hello Sunshine, part of Candle Media. Anya Taylor-Joy will executive produce through her production company, LadyKiller. “Lucky” marks the latest collaboration between Apple TV+ and Hello Sunshine, joining a slate of projects that includes the Emmy Award-winning series “The Morning Show,” the hit series “The Last Thing He Told Me” and “Surface”. Apple also recently collaborated with Taylor-Joy on the Apple Original Film “The Gorge.”
