Another Taliban decree issued for women in Afghanistan, women will not be able to work in NGOs
Another Taliban decree has been issued against women in Afghanistan. The Taliban has issued an order not to employ women in any national or foreign NGO of the Taliban. The order states that all national and foreign non-governmental groups employing women will be closed down.
The decision comes two years after the Taliban banned NGOs from hiring women because they allegedly did not wear the Islamic hijab properly.
In a letter published by the Taliban on Sunday night, Afghanistan’s Economy Ministry warned that non-compliance with the latest order could lead to NGOs losing their licenses to operate in Afghanistan, according to local media reports. The ministry said it is responsible for registering, coordinating, leading and supervising all activities carried out by national and foreign organizations.
The Taliban has ordered that national and international NGOs working in the country should not employ Afghan women at all. The shocking reason behind this has also come to light. The Taliban believe that women are not wearing hijab properly while on the job. Therefore stop giving them jobs. Earlier, the Taliban had said that there should be no windows in women’s rooms, even if there are, they should be closed.
This step has come after the Taliban had prohibited all NGOs from providing employment to Afghan women two years ago.
