Determining the rules of entry into the country is the sovereign right of each state. This was stated by the press secretary of the Turkish Foreign Ministry Tanju Bilgich in response to the statements of the Greek Foreign Ministry about the violation of the rights of one of the Greek citizens at the Turkish airport.
“We consider it strange and strongly reject the position of the Greek Foreign Ministry on the refusal of entry to a Greek citizen who has arrived in Turkey on a private trip on the basis of a general civil passport,” said MFA spokesman Tanju Bilgich.
The Turkish diplomat stressed that the Greek citizen did not meet the requirements of the conditions of entry to Turkey, and after the appropriate procedures at the airport in accordance with the rules of the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) and Turkish legislation, he was sent back.
Bilgich also noted that the Greek citizen was provided with full access to contacts with the consulate of his country in Turkey.
