Hersh Golberg-Polin, a 23-year-old American-Israeli who had recently finished his military service, was enjoying a rave in the Negev desert when he was surprised by a Hamas terrorist attack.sending an emotional message to his parents before disappearing.
On Saturday night, Golber-Polin, who was born in the United States but had lived in Israel since he was a child, attended an open-air music festival in the northern Negev, where hundreds of people gathered to dance and celebrate. However, the party turned into a nightmare when Hamas militants stormed the venue with paragliders and weapons, firing rockets and kidnapping attendees.
Golberg-Polin managed to send a text message to his parents, Jonathon Polin and Hila Golberg, telling them: “I love you” and “I’m sorry,” before his cell phone went off and no more was heard from him.reported New York Post.
His parents are desperate for news of their son and ask him to come home. “We love you. Come home to us,” his father told the Jerusalem Post.
Golberg-Polin had been a tank driver and medic in the Israeli army.He enjoyed traveling, music and football, and had plans to visit India.
The Hamas attack was the most serious Israel has suffered in 50 years, leaving more than 600 dead and nearly 1,600 injured. The attack coincided with a major Jewish holiday, Sichat Torah, and the anniversary of the 1973 war, in which Israel was attacked by Arab states on Yom Kippur.
In response, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu declared a state of war. and promised that Hamas would pay “a price it has never known”.
For its part, a Hamas spokesman stated that the number of Israeli hostages taken is “many times greater than Netanyahu thinks.”
Chilling videos were shared on social media, showing the moment when young Israelis went from joy to terror,and some screamed for their lives as they were dragged away by the terrorists.
