The US has described North Korea’s recent ballistic missile tests as an act of provocation. The US envoy to North Korea, who arrived in South Korea, appealed to Kim Jong Un to de-escalate tensions. He said North Korea’s missile tests are worrying and have adverse effects. In such a situation, instead of provoking Kim Jong Un, he should be involved in the conversation.
US envoy to South Korea warns
After a meeting with his South Korean officials in Seoul, Special Representative Sung Kim said the US remains committed to a sustained and solid diplomacy with North Korea. Sung Kim also said that our goal is the complete denuclearization of the Korean Peninsula. That is why Pyongyang’s recent ballistic missile test is adding fuel to the fire. This would disturb the peace on the Korean peninsula and adversely affect relations.
North Korea rejects US offer
However, North Korea has rejected this proposal of America outright. North Korea said that the US and South Korea are increasing military activities under the guise of diplomacy. Kim Jong Un’s spokesman said that the US is beating his chest over a ballistic missile test from a submarine, while it is a preparation for our self-defense. He questioned the integrity of America’s negotiation efforts.
North Korea is violating UNAC resolutions
The US special envoy said that North Korea had violated several UN Security Council resolutions including conducting missile tests. North Korea poses a threat to its neighbors and the international community. “We call on the DPRK to stop these provocations and other destabilizing activities and instead engage in dialogue,” he said, using the official name of North Korea.
America said – we have no intention of enmity
He said that we are ready to meet with the DPRK without any preconditions. We have made it clear that the United States has no hostile intentions towards the DPRK. At the same time, South Korean nuclear envoy Noh Kyu-duk said that Seoul’s proposal was discussed in Sunday’s talks with the US envoy.
