Prime Minister Narendra Modi today called Bharatiya Janata Party MPs Pratap Sarangi and Mukesh Rajput to inquire about their health after they suffered head injuries following an alleged clash between the opposition and the ruling coalition in the Parliament complex. This comes amid the controversy over Rahul Gandhi allegedly pushing an MP, while he claimed that he was stopped from entering Parliament and was allegedly pushed himself.
Union ministers Shivraj Singh Chouhan and Prahlad Joshi met BJP MPs on Thursday. Pratap Chandra Sarangi and Mukesh Rajput are admitted to RML hospital after being injured during a clash with India Alliance MPs outside Makar Dwar in Parliament.
The scuffle took place when both sides held parallel protests in Parliament after Union Home Minister Amit Shah’s remarks on BR Ambedkar.
After the tour, Chouhan criticized Congress leader Rahul Gandhi and his party for alleged misconduct during the clash in Parliament, calling it a dark day in the history of the parliamentary constituency.
Union Minister and BJP leader Shivraj Singh Chauhan said, “…my heart is filled with pain after seeing Pratap Chandra Sarangi ji. This is a dark day in the history of Parliament. The limits were flouted. There is no other example of the hooliganism that Rahul Gandhi and Congress have done..Now they will do such hooliganism…Such conduct has not been seen in the cultural history of India till date..They should be given training in a school as to how to behave in a democracy. It happens…we condemn this hooliganism.”
Union Law Minister Arjun Ram Meghwal said that BJP will take action against Congress MPs after receiving the report from the hospital.
Meghwal said, “Two leaders are injured. 4-5 other MPs have complained about this…all PSs have the right to protest. He (Rahul Gandhi) used physical violence and he did not even go to see the condition of Sarangi ji… They (Congress) have always done injustice to BR Ambedkar… They have always insulted him… We will take action as per the report in the hospital.”
BJP MP Aparajita Sarangi met injured MP Pratap Sarangi at Ram Manohar Lohia Hospital in Delhi. She said, “I went to the hospital to know his condition. Talked to doctors. Praying to God that he gets well soon.”
Speaking in the Rajya Sabha, Union Minister Kiren Rijiju said, “Rahul Gandhi today pushed two BJP MPs, who are now hospitalised. The entire Congress should apologize to the Parliament and the country for the behavior of Rahul Gandhi. Parliament is not a wrestling arena…”
