The Central Election Commission (CEC) of Uzbekistan considered applications for participation in the presidential elections of all five political parties registered in the republic and admitted them to the elections scheduled for October 24. This was reported by TASS with reference to the press service of the Central Election Commission of Uzbekistan.
The parties have been issued the necessary documents, and now they can apply to the CEC with applications for the registration of presidential candidates.
In accordance with the legislation of Uzbekistan, only political parties have the right to nominate candidates for presidency.
The Liberal Democratic Party of Uzbekistan, the People’s Democratic Party of Uzbekistan (PDPU), the Democratic Party of Uzbekistan Milliy Tiklanish (National Revival), the Social Democratic Party Adolat (Justice) and the Ecological Party are officially registered in the republic.
The current head of the republic, Shavkat Mirziyoyev, is running for elections from the Liberal Democratic Party. Narzulla Oblomurodov, chairman of the executive committee of the central apparatus of the party, will run for president from the Ecological Party. The Social Democratic “Adolat” and the Democratic Party “Milliy Tiklanish” nominated their leaders Bakhrom Abdukhalimov and Alisher Kadyrov as candidates. The People’s Democratic Party has nominated the deputy head of the political council of the PDPU Maksuda Vorisova for the presidency.
