Former President of Kyrgyzstan Askar Akayev, who arrived home today, told what questions he answered at the State Committee for National Security, KABAR KNIA reports.
According to him, he is very grateful to the leadership of the republic, President Sadyr Japarov, for the fact that they provided him with the opportunity to come home. “I came to cooperate, to help in the Kumtor mine case, to help the investigation, to give evidence. The former president noted that he has questions about Kumtor. “Today the first stage of interrogation in this case took place. I came here to tell you sincerely how and why we built Kumtor. In a word, tell everything. The investigation continues. The meetings will continue. I can’t say anything more today, “Akayev said.
He noted that he is very glad that after 16 years he returned to his homeland to his people. According to him, after arrival, he met with the President of the Kyrgyz Republic Sadyr Japarov.
Akayev also informed that he will stay in the country for a week.

The politician was put on the international wanted list as part of a criminal investigation into corruption during the implementation of the Kumtor project.
