In Afghanistan, after talks between the Taliban and the leader of the Northern Alliance, Ahmed Masood, broke down, the period of fierce fighting in the Panjshir Valley has intensified. Masood supporters blew up one of their tanks, giving a blow to the Taliban terrorists who entered the Panjshir Valley. 13 Taliban have been killed in this attack. The Panjshir Valley is the only place in Afghanistan that has not been captured by the Taliban.
Information posted on the rebels’ Twitter account said that 13 members of the Taliban have been killed in an ambush by insurgents in Chikrinov district of Panjshir province. A Taliban tank has also been destroyed. Masood’s army spokesman Fahim Dashti said the battle took place at the western entrance of the Panjshir valley. This place was attacked by Taliban.
Taliban tank destroyed in retaliation
Faheem said that the Taliban carried out the attack probably to test the security of the Panjshir Valley. He said a Taliban tank was destroyed in retaliation. Eight Taliban have been killed in the attack and an equal number of people have been injured. Two members of the rebel party were also injured. The Taliban had lost 40 fighters in the previous attack. So far none of Britain, the Soviet Union or the Taliban has succeeded in the Panjshir Valley.
Thousands of anti-Taliban fighters have gathered in this valley and are giving a befitting reply to the Taliban. He has raised the flag of the Northern Alliance, which has opposed the Taliban between 1996 and 2001. Ahmed Masood has demanded from the Taliban that minorities should also be given proper representation in the new government. The Taliban are not accepting it. They want to capture Panjshir by force.
