Afghanistan: reopening of the “Spin Boldak” border post with Pakistan

AA / Kabul

Afghan media announced on Tuesday the reopening of the “Spin Boldak” border post with Pakistan, for the passage of pedestrians and commercial vehicles.

The same sources said the crossing had resumed operation after being closed for an entire month, following the fallout from the Taliban takeover of Afghanistan in conjunction with the US military withdrawal from the country.

Commenting on the move, Pakistan’s Ambassador to Kabul Mansour Ahmed Khan said in a tweet that his country’s government will not collect visa fees from Afghans until December 31.

He added that crossings from the aforementioned border post will take place daily between 8 a.m. and 4 p.m. local time.

On August 15, the Taliban took control of almost all of Afghanistan, along with a final stage of the US military withdrawal that ended at the end of the same month.
