France has evacuated 16 of its nationals and their dependents, from Afghanistan to Qatar, announced Sunday the head of diplomacy Jean-Yves Le Drian.
“With the decisive help of Qatar, 16 French people and their dependents were able to leave Afghanistan today” welcomed the Minister of Foreign Affairs in a publication on his Twitter account.
He expresses his “strong thanks” to the Qatari authorities “for the continuation of this remarkable cooperation” which has already enabled the evacuation of 49 nationals and beneficiaries on September 10.
These evacuations are carried out by flights chartered by France from Kabul to Doha, then from Doha to Paris using a second aircraft.
As a reminder, 2,834 people were evacuated by France between August 15 (capture of Kabul by the Taliban), and August 27 (end of French evacuations), via an airlift set up in partnership with the United Arab Emirates. , to link Kabul to Abu Dhabi, then Abu Dhabi to Paris.
Among these people are “142 French and 17 Europeans”, the rest being Afghan nationals.
To these figures are now added 65 French people and beneficiaries evacuated via Doha.
