Technology and expertise to certify information. Adnkronos refines its tools to combat the phenomenon of disinformation. A point of reference for media, institutions and users for 60 years, the Adnkronos Group has decided to make use of two new allies to increasingly guarantee the authenticity of its news.
The first is a certification system that uses blockchain technology and is called Adnverify: a special stamp indicates with certainty that the news has been verified and therefore guarantees users the use of a truthful and impartial source. By browsing the page https://adnverify.adnkronos.com/ you can personally check whether a news item is verified or not and access the certification data. Adnverify was developed in collaboration with Blockchain Reply, a company specialized in the design and creation of solutions based on distributed technologies.
“In a period in which, also due to the ever-increasing use of AI, there is a strong focus on the reliability and truthfulness of information and sources, we have helped Adnkronos to introduce a solution that allows news to be recorded in an immutable way on a public blockchain. This allows us to have a verifiable, accessible and incontrovertible guarantee of originality right from the origin of the news by all readers”, comments Maurizio Sironi, partner of Blockchain Reply.
To further strengthen its defenses against fake news, Adnkronos has also joined the C2PA (Coalition for Content Provenance and Authenticity), an international “coalition” of subjects who, by adhering to a special protocol, aim to protect the authenticity of multimedia content, many of which may be at risk of veracity with the advance, without adequate controls, of Artificial Intelligence. Thanks to the development of new ad hoc technologies, Adnkronos implements the multimedia contents produced with metadata that allow the tracing of the source so that the authenticity of the content is recognisable.
C2PA involves over 30 different channels, including national and local newspapers – on paper, web, radio – outdoor and newsletters and intends to achieve and set one of the Group’s most important objectives: always guaranteeing the real-time nature of information, essential, verified and pure.
“Adnkronos is the first Italian press agency – explains Eugenio M. Lauro, i.e. Adnkronos – to participate in this important project which promotes Digital Trust. Transparency and reliability are fundamental values for our work, and we are convinced that these initiatives will help create a safer and more trustworthy digital ecosystem for everyone.”
