Action condemning the death penalty in Egypt was held in Istanbul

In Istanbul on Friday, a rally was held condemning the verdicts of the Egyptian courts against the opponents of the July 2013 coup in an Arab country.

Members of the Peygamber Sevdalıları Foundation protested against the verdict of the Egyptian court, which sentenced 12 opponents of the junta to death. The protesters gathered in the courtyard of the Fatih mosque, where a representative of the foundation read out a statement to the press on behalf of the protesters.

“The international community must mobilize efforts to prevent executions against opponents of the coup. Failure to prevent indiscriminate killing of people opens the door to greater chaos in the Islamic world. It is necessary to discern this fact and prevent these executions as soon as possible, ”the statement reads.

Earlier, in June, the Egyptian Court of Cassation handed down the final death sentence to 12 opponents of the military coup in Egypt.
