A race in memory of the victims of the Srebrenica genocide was held in Turkey


An international race in memory of the victims of the genocide of the Bosnians in Srebrenica was held in Turkey.

The race was organized by the Bakirkoy municipality in cooperation with the Turkish-Bosnian Association “Sandzak” under the slogan “Do not forget, do not let me forget.” The race started in the Yesilkoy area with the participation of about 1,000 athletes, the distance was 8,372 meters.

The Ambassador of Bosnia and Herzegovina to Ankara, Adis Alagic, emphasized in his speech that the Turks and Bosnians are one people and show solidarity in order to prevent the repetition of similar crimes in the future.

“Turkey and the Turkish people in this respect are an example for the whole world. They are always with us. Justice must prevail. The perpetrators deserve punishment, and the victims deserve justice, ”he said.

The deputy head of the Bakirkoy municipality, Javid Ganich, in turn, noted that the genocide in Srebrenica should not be forgotten, this will prevent the repetition of such bloody crimes in the future.

“In 1995, in Srebrenica, in the center of Europe, 8,372 Bosnians were killed in a week. In total, in 1992-1995, about 220 thousand of our Muslim brothers were killed. We must show solidarity to prevent a recurrence of genocide, ”he said.

The participants of the race were presented with medals in the shape of a flower of Srebrenica – a symbol of genocide in this city.
