A large consignment of military equipment will arrive from the United States to the Greek port of Dedeagach (Alexandroupolis) to conduct exercises.
According to the Greek media, the arrival of a consignment of military cargo in “unprecedented volume” is expected in the coming weeks. It is planned to deliver a large number of military helicopters, UAVs, tanks, artillery and heavy weapons to the port of Dedeagach, including helicopters such as Romeo, Sikorsky, Chinook, and the M1 Abrams tank.
The purpose of supplying a large consignment of military equipment is the exercises, which will begin in the port of Dedeagach, spread to the Balkans and Central Europe, covering Romania and Bulgaria. The cargo will be delivered to the port of Dedeagach by the USNS Yuma, a fast transport and landing ship, which already delivered to the region last year for similar exercises.
US Ambassador to Greece Geoffrey Payet said that an unprecedented number of aircraft and helicopters will arrive at Dedeagach Port in November.
The American ambassador focused on the scale of the delivery.
The media notes that the United States attaches great importance to the port of Dedeagach, and the reason for this is the desire of Washington to increase the military power of NATO and the United States in the Balkans and the Black Sea region.
