The strike that is taking place in the Korean health sector has led to a few cases of ambulance carrying patients with emergency needed to be unable to find the hospital.
Newspaper The Korea Herald On 17.3 quoted information from the Incheon Fire Department said that the pregnant woman was a Vietnamese citizen at the age of 30 and collapsed at the 1st Station of Incheon International Airport of Korea at about 12:20 pm 16.3 (local time).
Initially, the rescue team tried to bring Vietnamese pregnant women to the Inha University Hospital, but the staff here refused to receive it. Other nearby hospitals also made the same decision.
Pregnant women must be in the state of waiting inside the ambulance in front of Inha University Hospital while the rescue team considers other options.
Finally, the pregnant woman broke the amniotic fluid and labor in the car. After about 2 hours, she gave birth to a healthy baby boy.
Only then did both mother and son receive the hospital.
Since 2024, many cases of ambulance carrying patients needed emergency care have been difficult to find hospitals in Korea, in the context of the personnel of the health sector lacking nationwide because the strike continued.
The February data of the National Firefighter showed that a total of 104 cases of ambulance were rejected by hospitals during the Lunar New Year period, increasing sharply compared to 47 cases in the same period in 2024.
The strike started on February 20, 2024, when doctors simultaneously quit their jobs to protest the government plan to increase enrollment targets in medical schools by 2,000 more within 1 year.
