“The Myanmar army defended the base but eventually Knla won control. Some of Myanmar soldiers were killed and some fled across the border into Thailand,” the Thai army said in a notice.
The announcement did not specify how many Myanmar soldiers crossed the border into Thailand’s Tak province but said those soldiers were provided with humanitarian support.
A military spokesman for KNLA, Karen’s national coalition, said Knla had occupied the aforementioned military base at about 3 am 14.3. The members of KNLA occupied the base after the Myanmar soldier “removed the gun and ran into Thailand”, according to the statement from the Karen National Union.
There is no information on the reaction of the Myanmar military government for information from the Thai military as well as declaring from KNLA.
KNLA is one of dozens of minority armed organizations in Myanmar, currently against the country’s army, according to AFP.
