Not only Nguyen Thi Huong…
Like Adolescent It was announced that on December 23, 2024, Vinh Phuc Sports Training and Competition Center (the training place of “golden girl” Nguyen Thi Huong, sailing) issued a notice about temporary suspension of work. Regular training of sports teams from December 24, 2024, “based on the request of sports teams and the actual situation, regular training nutrition has not been provided to coaches, athletes”. The announcement clearly states that sports teams will practice regularly until they are granted regular funding in 2024.
Meanwhile, Vinh Phuc’s brightest athlete, Nguyen Thi Huong, has also written a request to quit practicing sailing from January 1, 2025. According to Huong’s expression, she has not received the medal bonus brought to provincial sports during the past 3 years (from 2022 to 2024) and the nutritional support money for 2024.
Not only Nguyen Thi Huong, but more than 200 people (including coaches and athletes) of Vinh Phuc province’s sports teams also fell into a “dilemma”, when the Vinh Sports Training and Competition Center Phuc temporarily stopped practicing regularly. Currently, Vinh Phuc Sports Training and Competition Center is training and regularly coaching 11 high-performance sports teams (11 coaches, 117 team athletes; 30 coaches, 92 youth team athletes) and is continuing to Search, train and coach sports talents in the province and outside the province to bring achievements to Vinh Phuc sports.
The sports that must temporarily suspend training in Vinh Phuc province include: wushu, wrestling, athletics, volleyball, karate, cycling, pencak silat, archery, boat racing, and shooting.
Vinh Phuc Sports Training and Competition Center has “frozen”, but dozens of athletes have had to ask to stay at the center to continue their cultural studies. It can be seen that the majority of the athletes on the list requesting to stay are very young, born between 2009 and 2014.
These very young athletes may become a talent of Vietnamese sports in the future, following in the footsteps of their elder sister Nguyen Thi Huong in boat racing. But now, they are in trouble again.
