Mr. Shin Tae-yong is not on the radar in Vietnam
Immediately after coach Shin Tae-yong was fired from his position as head coach of the Indonesian team by the Indonesian Football Federation (PSSI), the media of the island country and Korean media reported that at least 3 Indonesian football teams wanted to Get the signature of the Korean coach. Those teams include Bali United, Persis and PSIS Semarang.
However, Mr. Shin Tae-yong himself has not accepted an offer with any team, nor has he spoken out to confirm or deny whether the above-mentioned clubs have contacted him or not. For professional football people, they are very familiar with these types of rumors. They also do not want to spend a lot of time commenting, or correcting the accuracy of the information just mentioned.
What did coach Le Duc Tuan say?
The same goes for Hanoi FC. Coach Le Duc Tuan of the capital football team said he would not comment on whether coach Shin Tae-yong will return to Hanoi FC or not. That’s not what Coach Le Duc Tuan cares about either. What this coach is concerned about at the present time is the performance of the former V-League champion.
Coach Le Duc Tuan said: “Hanoi FC is a professional team. Currently, I have the trust of the club’s leaders, and I will work with the players to achieve the best results. We are a united team, working together.” clasp hands together to achieve good results in competition. As for other matters, including coach Shin Tae-yong’s matter, I will not comment.”
Regarding achievements on the field, Hanoi FC is making very positive changes. Coach Le Duc Tuan’s team is unbeaten in the last 8 rounds in V-League 2024-2025, with 3 wins and 5 draws. Hanoi FC is also inching up the rankings. They have 17 points, temporarily ranked 4th, 5 points behind top team Thanh Hoa, but played 1 match less than their opponents.
In theory, the possibility of Hanoi FC usurping Thanh Hoa’s top spot in the matches and returning to the championship race is high. Normally, team leaders rarely change coaches when their team is performing well. Regarding this issue, it can be affirmed that in recent times, Hanoi FC under coach Le Duc Tuan is playing well.
Besides, not every team in Southeast Asia wants to invite coach Shin Tae-yong. This is a World Cup-class coach (Mr. Shin helped the Korean team defeat the German team at the 2018 World Cup), Mr. Shin Tea-yong’s salary is very high. During the time coach Shin Tae-yong led the Indonesian team from late 2019 to early this year, the salary PSSI paid him was about 1.5 million USD (about 38 billion VND)/year.
This is a very large number for every team in the V-League, nearly equal to the average total operating budget of clubs in the V-League every year. Therefore, inviting coaches of Mr. Shin Tae-yong’s caliber is always highly considered by football administrators in Southeast Asia. For example, with PSSI, they paid coach Shin Tae-yong a high salary in exchange for the Indonesian team reaching the World Cup. As for clubs in the V-League, how far do domestic teams have to go to match this salary?
