Sanjay Roy has been convicted in the case of rape and murder of a female doctor on duty at RG Kar Medical College and Hospital, Kolkata. The court said that the sentence will be pronounced on Monday. Accused Sanjay told the judge, “I have been implicated in a false case. I have not done this. Those who have done this are being released. An IPS officer is involved in this.”
Sanjay Roy, a civilian volunteer of Kolkata Police, was accused of committing the heinous crime on August 9 last year with a postgraduate trainee doctor at a government hospital in the northern part of the city. The court has declared Sanjay Roy guilty today.
The court said that a case has been registered against the accused under BNS Section 64,66, 103/1. The complaint against the accused is that he went to the medical college and hospital under the pretext of RG and went to the seminar room and attacked the female doctor who was resting there and murdered her.
CBI recorded statements of more than 120 witnesses in this case before the trial court. These camera trials ran for 66 days. To prove its case, CBI mixed the biological evidence like DNA sample of Sanjay Roy with the sample of Dr. Bitiya’s viscera report to prove Sanjay Roy a criminal. Apart from this, a bunch of hair collected from the spot was also found to be that of Sanjay Roy. Besides, Sanjay Roy’s Bluetooth device was also found at the spot.
