Ubisoft has announced the postponement of the launch of Assassin’s Creed Shadows, the new chapter of the famous saga. Originally scheduled for February 14, the game will be available starting March 20 on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series, PC (via Steam, Epic Games Store and Ubisoft Store), Mac (via App Store) and Luna. The decision to postpone the launch by a month was made to allow the development team at Ubisoft Quebec to better integrate the feedback collected from players over the last three months. This additional time will allow us to optimize the gaming experience and ensure a launch in the best possible conditions. In the same context, the company has formalized the evaluation of new strategic options which could include the sale of the company.
In a press release, Ubisoft co-founder and CEO Yves Guillemot said: “We have made good progress in the strategic and operational reviews initiated a few months ago and are confident that this will position Ubisoft for a more robust future. We have taken measures crucial to reshaping the Group to deliver world-class gaming experiences, improve operational efficiency and maximize value creation. We have also recently appointed leading advisors and are actively exploring several strategic and capitalistic options to fully unlock value potential of our assets. We believe there are several potential paths to generate value from Ubisoft’s assets and franchises. Furthermore, we fully support our teams’ efforts to create the most ambitious chapter in the Assassin’s Creed franchise and have taken the lead. decision to provide an additional month of development to Shadows to best integrate the player feedback gathered over the last three months, which will allow us to unleash the game’s full potential and end the year on a positive note.”
