Delhi International Airport Limited (DIAL) on Friday announced that Terminal 2 (T2) at Indira Gandhi International Airport (IGIA) will be temporarily closed for four to six months during the next financial year for renovation.
IGIA, which is India’s busiest airport, has three terminals – T1, T2 and T3. Currently, T1 and T2 are designated for domestic flights.
Renovation of T2 is scheduled to begin in the 2025-26 financial year, with completion expected by Q2FY26. During the closure, Terminal 1 will accommodate additional passenger volumes, ensuring operations continue with minimal disruption.
The comprehensive upgrade of T2 aims to improve the passenger experience and expand the airport’s capacity to support future growth. DIAL CEO Videh Kumar Jaipuriar said the revival of the four-decade-old terminal is important to meet the growing demand for air travel, especially for domestic passengers, as T2 capacity is expected to reach its peak by FY 2025-26.
