The first day of the fifth Test being played between India and Australia in Sydney was in Australia’s favor. After winning the toss and opting to bat first, the Indian team once again fell apart like a pack of cards in front of the Australian lethal bowlers. Batting first, India scored only 185 runs losing 10 wickets. Pant scored the maximum 40 runs for India.
Let us tell you that India played its fifth and last match of this series without Rohit Sharma. Shubman Gill got a place in the team in place of Rohit but Gill could not do anything special in the match. Gill became the victim of Nathan Lawen after scoring 20 runs. In place of Rohit, Indian fast bowler Jasprit Bumrah was made the captain of the team. Now talking about Indian batsmen, KL Rahul 4, Jaiswal 10, Gill 20, Pant 40, Kohli 17, Jadeja 26, Reddy 0, Sundar 14, Krishna 3, Captain Bumrah returned to the pavilion after scoring 22 runs.
Australia’s bowlers continued their havoc and Boland took maximum 4 wickets for the team, while Mitchell Starc took 3, Cummins took 2 and Lawen took 1 wicket and broke the back of Team India.
By the end of today’s play, Australia’s innings had also started. Australia, setting a target of 185 runs, got a chance to play 3 overs at the end of the game, whereas in these three overs, Indian fast bowler Bumrah, showing his strong bowling prowess, shocked Australia in the form of Khawaja. Bumrah ended the game by taking the wicket of Khawaja on the last ball of the last over of the day.
