Chittagong Court of Bangladesh has given a big blow to ISKCON priest Chinmoy Krishnadas in the treason case. A Chattogram court today refused to grant bail to former ISKCON leader Chinmoy Krishna Das Brahmachari during a hearing held amid tight security. Hindu saint Chinmoy Krishnadas was arrested from Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport in Dhaka on 25 November.
Let us tell you that the Chittagong Court of Bangladesh completely rejected the arguments of the panel of 11 lawyers supporting ISKCON priest Chinmoy Krishnadas and refused to grant him bail. During the hearing in the court, the panel of lawyers, while presenting their views, said that all the allegations made against Saint Chinmay are completely false and fabricated. Also, the lawyers said in the court that Sant Chinmoy has been kept in jail unfairly despite suffering from diabetes and respiratory problems.
In the last two hearings, the lawyers supporting Chinmay Das were not allowed to appear in the court and in today’s hearing, ISKCON had expressed hope that Chinmay Das’s lawyers would be allowed to appear. In fact, due to threats from some lawyers, no lawyer was present in favor of Chinmay Das during the last two hearings. Earlier on December 11, a Bangladesh court had rejected Das’s preliminary bail plea due to procedural flaws. According to reports, the petition was rejected due to absence of valid power of attorney and lawyer.
