In the qualifying round of the Southwest region football tournament Adolescent Third Vietnamese Students – 2025 THACO Cup (TNSV THACO Cup 2025), Can Tho South University will have the opening match with Can Tho University at 4:00 p.m. on January 8 at Can Tho Stadium.

With the hope of “winning the first and last”, Southern Can Tho University believes that this match is extremely important, decisive to the team’s ability to continue. A victory will have a lot of psychological significance, helping the players become more confident.

It is completely reasonable that Southern Can Tho University will play “hard” right from the first match when lucky draws have put the team in the “death” group in the Southwest qualifiers. This year, after the match against Can Tho University, the team will face Dong Thap University. This is a rookie team, but the Coaching Board of Can Tho Southern University highly appreciates it and thinks it is very formidable with many good players playing on field 5 and field 7. Facing opponents with good endurance, Southern Can Tho University especially focuses on physical training for the whole team. As the tournament approaches, the team tightens its tactical exercises during harsh times of the day. Training hours are usually around 9 – 11 am and from 3 – 3 pm, the hot sun and hollow soccer field cause the players to lose a lot of energy. However, the whole team tried very hard, because it was predicted that on the journey to conquer the only golden ticket in the Southwest region, they would have to race against many “war horses”.

Practice through New Year’s Eve

In particular, to maintain physical fitness, the players were determined to stay and practice even during the 2025 New Year holiday. Mr. Le Tran Anh Khoa, Coaching Board of Southern Can Tho University shared: “With determination high, even though they had the Tet holiday, many players decided not to go home but instead went to the field to practice tactics to be more consistent and rhythmic. This year we set a high goal, at least to pass the group stage Although the results are unknown But so far the coaching staff has been very satisfied with your hard work, consensus and determination.”

After getting the results of the group visit, knowing that they would meet familiar teams again, Nam Can Tho University immediately considered the personnel problem. That is the strategy of using old people to lead and inspire and use new people to create surprise and novelty in the gameplay. Therefore, this year, Southern Can Tho University called up more than half of its first-year students to the school team. However, the team still has about 7 old pillars. Among them are prominent names such as midfielder Tu Chi Minh, midfielder Nguyen Le Tu, midfielder Doan Trung Kien, midfielder Nguyen Cong Phu…

According to the coaching staff of Southern Can Tho University, with the student football tournament organized by Newspaper Adolescent organization, having the opportunity to participate is an honor, if participating in the final round would be very proud. Of course, with high professional quality, surpassing 7 other teams to win the only ticket in the region is not easy. Therefore, the team does not favor experienced athletes but chooses players with good performance.
