Air quality recorded in ‘very poor’ category in Delhi, AQI reached 388
The air quality index (AQI) in the national capital was recorded in the ‘very poor’ category on Sunday, with a thin layer of fog covering parts of the city and visibility remaining limited.
According to the Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB), the AQI in the national capital was 388 at 7 am on Sunday. According to CPCB, AQI 398 was recorded in Delhi on Saturday.
The air quality index was recorded as ‘very poor’ in many areas of the national capital. At 7 am on Sunday, 384 were recorded at ITO, 372 at Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium, 354 at DTU, 372 at IGI Airport (T3), 381 at DU North Campus. However, the AQI remained in the ‘severe’ category in many areas, with Alipore recording 411, Anand Vihar 427 and RK Puram 408.
An AQI between 0-50 is considered good, 51-100 satisfactory, 101-200 moderate, 201-300 poor, 301-400 very poor and 401-500 severe.
According to the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD), the minimum temperature in Delhi was recorded at 8 degrees Celsius on Sunday. People took shelter in night shelter homes across the national capital as temperatures dropped.
